Powerball Ticket Worth $1 Million Sold In Montgomery County

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Pennsylvania Lottery officials have just disclosed where the three tickets worth $1 million from Wednesday night's Powerball drawing were sold, and one location is in our area.

The three tickets – which are Match 5 winners but didn't have the Powerball number – were sold in Blair, Butler and Montgomery counties.

The exact locations were:

• Swaraj Service Station, 1700 Seventh Ave., Altoona, Blair County;

• Planet Mart, 494 N. Pike Road, Cabot, Butler County; and

• Sunoco, 330 E. Lancaster Ave., Wynnewood, Montgomery County.

The Powerball winning numbers were 05-16-22-23-29 and a red Powerball of 06. Matching the five white ball numbers results in the million-dollar prize, less a 25-percent federal withholding.

Retailers that sold the winning tickets receive a $5,000 bonus.

New Jersey also had eight $1 million winners. Five were in Hudson County, and there were one each in Atlantic, Bergen and Ocean counties (see the exact locations here)

The only two winning tickets for the Powerball jackpot prize, which wound up being worth nearly $588 million, were sold in Arizona and Missouri.

Pennsylvania Lottery officials said in a news release that they cannot confirm the identity of the winners until each prize is claimed and each ticket is validated.

Powerball winners in Pennsylvania have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The lottery said it encourages each holder of a winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call them at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of its seven area offices. Claims may be filed at Lottery headquarters Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices.

The Powerball jackpot reset to an estimated annuity value of $40 million, or $26.2 million cash, for the next drawing on Saturday.
