Police Search For Man Who Touched Girl At Falls Township Barnes & Noble

Posted: Updated:

Mom Amanda Oberlander is on extra high alert with her two young daughters as they head to a Christmas recital at Barnes & Noble in Falls Township.

"I just can't imagine something like that happening," she said.

"I hold their arms and they're next to me 24-7."

She heard about the man police are looking for after an 11-year old told her mother the man touched her on the butt near the bathroom area of the store on Commerce Boulevard Sunday, November 18th.

"It's a shame because they come here to read books and not be taken advantage of," said Oberlander.

Surveillance cameras in the store captured the suspect pacing back and forth in the restroom area which is also just outside the children's books section. Police hope you recognize the guy and turn him in. They also have a warning to parents about letting kids roam places alone, especially bathroom areas.

"A lot of parents might think their child is old enough to go to bathroom on their own. It's not that they can't but people who are inappropriate to children are drawn to bathroom areas. It's not uncommon. We've seen that before," said Detective Sergeant Nelson Whitney.

If you have any information, you're asked to call Falls Township Police at 215-949-9100.

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy.  It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms.  Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.

This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
