Big chains and corporations roll out the deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but today there was a focus on independent merchants. Small Business Saturday began in 2010 with an offer from American Express. Now, more and more businesses are participating. Consumers nationwide are urged to "shop small" and support their local establishments.
President Obama and his daughters went Christmas shopping at "One More Page Books" in Arlington, VA. The Obama Administration says that over the last two decades, small businesses have created two of every three U.S. jobs.
