Police say a man dressed as a clown went into cardiac arrest and died in front horrified spectators at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.

67-year-old Robert Blasetti and his wife Irene were dressed as clowns for the parade and were making balloon animals at Sixth Avenue and West 39th Street when he suddenly suffered a heart attack. His wife desperately tried to revive him by administering CPR.

Authorities said a good Samaritan wearing a Macy's sweatshirt provided assistance to Blasetti.

A Macy's spokesman did not say if Blasetti was an employee.

The New York Post says a civilian NYPD worker also suffered a fatal heart attack at the parade. 58-year-old Charles Sutton collapsed as he hooked up a car to be towed off the parade route at West 57th Street and Sixth Avenue.
