WASHINGTON -
Thousand of D.C. residents gathered at the Washington Convention Center for a free Thanksgiving dinner.
Many of the 5,000 people expected were senior citizens who had been bused in from across the city for the 13th Annual Feast of Sharing. Safeway was the lead sponsor of the event.
Organizers say with the help of volunteers from many different businesses, they were able to serve 500 cooked turkeys with all the traditional side dishes.
There was also assistance for those who are unemployed this holiday season. After enjoy a meal, a job fair was set up to assist those looking for employment.
