PLYMOUTH, Mass. -

A Massachusetts woman is facing some serious criticism over a gesture she made while standing in Arlington National Cemetery.

It all started when 30-year-old Lindsey Stone posted a picture on Facebook of her making an obscene gesture next to a sign at the cemetery.

Her family says she was reacting to the sign, which read "Silence and respect."

Now that the picture has gone viral, many people are reacting to it negatively, with some calling the act "disgusting."

Stone's father tells FOX she feels ashamed.

A new Facebook page even surfaced calling on Stone's employer to fire her because the photo was taken during a business trip.

FOX has learned Stone has since been fired, along with the photographer, who worked for the same employer.
