ALEXANDRIA, Va. -

Police are on the lookout for two suspects in a smash and grab theft from a jewelry store in Alexandria.

Surveillance video from the store shows two men, possibly in their late teens or early 20s, using a hammers - one of them a sledgehammer - to smash display counters. One suspect appeared to make off with boxes of merchandise.

Store owners say they stole three Rolex watches worth about $37,000. The theft occurred on September 6 at 10 a.m. in the 600 block of King Street.

Police say they thought they had some good leads, but they didn't pan out. Now they are asking for help from the public in identifying the criminals.

Both suspects are black males, with a medium build, about 5'8' to 6 feet tall. One was wearing jeans and a blue hooded designer jacket made by Helly Hansen with an HH logo on the left front.

The other suspect was wearing jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. His sweatshirt had the outline of an astronaut on the front, possibly made by Billionaire Boys Club.

Anyone with information is asked to call Alexandria Police Detective Loren King in the Criminal Investigations Section at 703-746-6689.
