PHILADELPHIA -

The mother of a 14-year-old victim of an attempted luring tells FOX 29 her daughter did all of the right things when it counted the most.

FOX 29's Chris O'Connell spoke with the mother of the 14-year-old girl who was the victim of Monday's attempted luring in Oxford Circle.

Philadelphia Police are investigating the incident that happened near Carnell Middle and Elementary School at Summerdale and Benner Streets about 8 a.m.

"Tonight she's shaken up" the mother told FOX 29.

The woman, who wanted to keep her identity hidden over safety concerns for her daughter, says she thought it was important to talk about what happened. The Northeast Philadelphia mom says her daughter did all the right things when confronted by a stranger.

She recalled the chilling account.

"He said 'you need a ride get in the car' ...my daughter responded No. And he said to her, get in the car. And she turned around with a strong no. And he looked again, turned around in the opposite direction."

The eighth grader refused the driver's attempts to get her in the car and quickly told a crossing guard who notified the school and police.

The mother says the abduction attempt should be a wake up call.

"Teach your children safety. Watch your children carefully and instill confidence in them that if someone walks up on them, drives up on them, they won't get in the car and won't make rash decisions," said the mother.

There was a noticeable police presence outside of the Carnell School when classes were dismissed Monday.

Police describe the suspect as an Indian man in his 40s with long dark hair. He was last seen wearing a gold and maroon sweatshirt.

The man was seen driving away in a blue colored Toyota Echo.

The 14-year-old's mother is hoping police find the man before he has the opportunity to strike again.

" I just pray they catch this man. THat he gets what he needs because he needs help. And I'm going to pray for his soul" she said.

Police say they do not think the latest abduction attempt is related to several others in Northeast Philadelphia last month.

If you know anything about this case please call the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
