Lauren DeMarco is one of the newest general assignment reporters at Fox 5, but she has been working at the station since 2004. Lauren first joined the newsroom as a writer and producer. She began filling in as a traffic reporter on Fox 5 Morning News a few years later. In 2010, she pitched an idea for a weekly segment about mobile apps which were quickly becoming mainstream. The Smartphone Zone has become a venue not only for highlighting popular apps, but also reviews on new devices and tablets, and current trends in social media.
Before joining the Fox 5 team, Lauren worked as a writer and assignment editor for WBFF-TV in Baltimore. You may have heard her reporting news and traffic on radio stations like WTOP-FM, WWWT and Sirius XM as recently as 2011.
Lauren spent her childhood in New York and New Jersey, but she now calls Maryland home. She says the best part of her job is covering breaking news all over the D.C. region, and meeting new people every day.
When she is not at work, you'll typically find her enjoying the area's restaurant scene and spending time with friends, family and her dog.
