WASHINGTON, DC -
The Metropolitan Police Department arrested nine teenagers after an attack inside the Woodley Park-Zoo Adams Morgan Metro Station. 18 year old Olijawon Griffin of Olney, MD was stabbed and killed. Another man had been beaten, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Police say it all began when Griffin was robbed of some 'personal property' near 18th St. and Columbia Rd. in Adams Morgan. A short time later, around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Griffin and the other victim encountered some of the suspects inside the Metro station. A fight ensued. Griffin was stabbed and the other man was robbed and wounded.
Both Metro Transit and DC Police responded, locking down the station. They held trains and kept passengers on the platform while they rounded up the suspects and recovered several weapons. Seven juvenile males face aggravated assault charges. Another faces both aggravated assault and robbery charges. A 17-year old is charged with murder two while armed in the death of Olijawon Griffin. We should learn in court on Monday whether he will be charged as an adult.
