Allergic to cold? It’s a real problem, some doctors say

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A lot of people complain about the cold weather, especially in Chicago, but now doctors say some kids are actually allergic to the cold.

Just like a pollen allergy, the cold allergy--called cold urticaria--has symptoms that range from rashes to closing of the throat.

Doctors say it could have a genetic cause, but could also be acquired.

It's not just cold weather that causes the reaction, but it can come from other cold items like popsicles and ice cream.
