Suben previously denied the claims to the press, his family, and staff when asked about it prior to his recent reelection.
A video posted on YouTube on Thursday purported to show that Suben was known by various stage names in the 1970s and appeared in a few pornos including "Deep Throat Part 2," "Lecher," "The Love Witch," and more.
In a press conference on Friday, Suben said that he had used bad judgment in his youth when he performed in the pornographic films. He also said he was sorry for lying about it.
"A few weeks ago, when asked, I denied this to members of the press. I regret that and apologize for it," Suben said. "I was shocked and embarrassed to be confronted with this so many years later. I was embarrassed for my family and friends who stood by me."
Suben said he also performed in commercials, off-Broadway plays, and soap operas in the 1970s.
He didn't take any questions after reading his statement and did not say that he would resign.
