The Fulton County Sheriff's Office says former WNBA star and Olympic gold medalist Chamique Holdsclaw was granted bond on Friday. Holdsclaw was arrested after she allegedly shot up and smashed in the windows of her ex-girlfriend's Land Rover.
Holdsclaw faced a judge on Friday morning, wearing a jail uniform and handcuffs. Her attorney, Steve Weiner, said his client "is upset. She has never been in this kind of situation in any way or matter and she is emotionally a wreck."
That's when investigators say Holdsclaw got out of her car, poured flammable liquid in Lacy's car, broke her windows with a baseball bat, and fired shots into Lacy's vehicle. Lacy, who was in the vehicle, was not injured.
Her defense attorneys on Friday argued that Holdsclaw was not a threat. The judge did not agree with that argument.
"To be not a danger to the community. I find that frightening giving the description of her conduct," said Judge Roy Roberts.
Judge Roberts granted Holdsclaw a $100,000 bond. She is to wear an ankle monitor, and have no contact with Jennifer Lacy.
"If she violates the terms of bond, she'll be charged with aggravated stalking, a no bond offense, and held pending this trial and that trial," said Roberts.
Weiner said he hoped her family can get together the money needed to bond her out of jail by the end of the day.
Police say Holdsclaw faces two counts of aggravated assault, 1 count of criminal damage to property in the 1st degree, 1 count of criminal damage in the 2nd degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Holdsclaw was a champion at the University of Tennessee, a gold medal winner in the Olympics and a star in the WNBA.
She was in the process of bonding out on Friday afternoon. Her next court appearance is set for November 30 at 9 a.m. in Fulton County Superior Court.
