Atlanta police say former WNBA star and Olympic gold medalist Chamique Holdsclaw has been arrested after she allegedly shot up and smashed in the windows of her ex-girlfriend's Land Rover.
Investigators say the 35-year-old Holdsclaw began following Jennifer Lacy on Ponce de Leon on Tuesday. Avenue. Lacy, who plays for the WBNA's Tulsa Shock, told police that she was scare and drove to a friend's home on Hemphill Avenue.
That's when investigators say Holdsclaw got out of her car and started hitting Lacy's Land Rover with a baseball bat before grabbing a pistol.
"She produced a handgun, stuck that inside the vehicle and fired off one round," said Sgt. John Chafee of the Atlanta Police Department.
Authorities say Lacy was inside the car at the time, but was not hurt.
Police say Holdsclaw turned herself in on charges of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m.
Earlier this year, Holdsclaw released a book, Breaking Through: Beating the Odds Shot, in which she described her battle with depression.
On Tuesday, Holdsclaw posted on her Twitter, "Everything is a lesson learned. We all make decisions good and bad. As long as we grow from them that's all that matters."
