What started out as an investigation into alleged email threats at a woman in Florida, has lead to the former CIA director David Petraeus' downfall.

Author Bill Doyle interviewed Petraeus while he worked on a book about Iraq. They had one in-depth interview and a series of email exchanges.

Doyle says Petraeus had almost an "Internet mania."

Gen. David Petraeus "practically leapt through the Internet to contact me."

"I've interviewed hundreds of military personnel, Petraeus stands out as the most effective with the press… I approached him as a historian writing about Iraq.  I think he may even have a digital addiction," Doyle told Good Day New York.
