Checking ingredients of scented baby products

WASHINGTON, DC -

Just about everyone loves the sweet smell of a freshly bathed baby. In fact, there's an entire industry built around baby care products from lotions to shampoo and body wash.

But some studies are raising concerns about potentially unsafe ingredients in those products.

As parents, it can be tough to navigate the baby care aisle. Reading labels. Figuring out which baby care products are safe and which ones might be toxic.

The environmental working group says you can read the labels all you want. But on some products not all of the ingredients are listed.

The environmental working group says Parabens, Phthalates, Formaldehyde, Coal Tar And Petroleum Derivatives, are among the ingredients that have all been identified as ingredients that have the potential for long-term health consequences.
