No Time For Patriotism? Hockey League Nixes National Anthem

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA. -

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League is making a controversial call, but it's not about the game. It's about the national anthem.

Commissioner Ed Sam wants to do away with the national anthem before games.

But it's for economic, not political, reasons.

High school hockey teams have to rent the ice time, so the longer teams are on the ice, the more money they have to pay.

Parents are extremely upset and say there must be another way to cut time.

Commissioner Sam says because of the backlash, they're going to have another meeting and see if they can put the national anthem back into games.
