DETROIT (WJBK) -- After a nearly two-week hiatus, the Kwame Kilpatrick corruption trial resumed Tuesday in federal court.
The trial had been delayed after Gerald Evelyn, attorney for defendant Bobby Ferguson, fell ill while cross examining a witness last month. He was hospitalized for exhaustion and later released.
Kilpatrick, his father Bernard and Ferguson returned to court Tuesday without former co-defendant Victor Mercado. He took a plea deal last week.
On Twitter, Kilpatrick sounded eager to get back to court. He tweeted Monday, "Back in Detroit! Strapping on my boots. Time to go back to work on my freedom. Plus, I need the boots for all the bull excrement."
