Former D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown is preparing to be sentenced, but it's unclear if he'll have to serve any time behind bars.
Brown is being sentenced in federal court Tuesday for lying on loan applications. He's also due in D.C. Superior Court later in the day for sentencing on a misdemeanor campaign finance violation.
Brown admitted to both crimes in June and gave up his role on the council as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
Prosecutors have asked that Brown, who admitted inflating his income by tens of thousands of dollars on loan applications, be sentenced to six days in jail for bank fraud.
But his lawyer has said he's suffered enough and is requesting probation and community service instead.
