Long Island Cares and other local officials sponsored a free mobile food distribution program Saturday morning to help residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The distribution center program took place at Seamans Neck Park in Seaford and over 15,000 pounds of food, water, and supplies were brought in to serve victims of storm who are in need.

Residents were able to receive Non-perishable food items (pastas, grains, and mixed vegetables), cereal, protein bars, water, baby food and formula, juice, pet food and bleach.

All of the items free of charge and individuals were served on a first come, first served basis.
