Honda has donated and delivered 100 generators to Nassau County, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday.

The generators were given to fire departments to help power warming and comfort stations used for Superstorm Sandy relief efforts.

"The needs of New Yorkers impacted by Hurricane Sandy are great, and the generous assistance from corporate partners like Honda is more than welcome," Cuomo said. "These generators will be essential in keeping warming stations powered and running in the most impacted areas of Nassau County so that local residents have a place to go if they are cold."

American Honda Motor Company Inc. donated pelican lights, cords, fire extinguishers, power strips, and gas cans along with the Honda EU2000 portable generators, the governor's office said.

The packages will go to the hardest hit areas in the county, especially the heavily damaged area south of Merrick Road.
