Maryland lawmaker wants to ban smoking on county property

ROCKVILLE, Md. -

A Montgomery County lawmaker wants to ban smoking on all property owned and leased by the county.

Councilmember Nancy Floreen is a cancer survivor and says it's time the county did more to attack the deadly disease.

The Montgomery County Council is now considering the smoking ban, which also includes county-owned parking garages and golf courses.

The bill will be introduced next week.
