Pedestrian killed on LI; traffic light out

VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a pedestrian has been killed at a Long Island intersection where the traffic light was off due to a power outage.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Valley Stream.

Nassau County police also say numerous street lights in the area were not working.

Police say the 59-year-old Hempstead woman was pronounced dead at a hospital.
