Padres get RHP Kloess from Chisox for OF Tekotte

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP) - The San Diego Padres have obtained right-hander Brandon Kloess from the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Blake Tekotte.

The 27-year-old Kloess was a combined 6-3 with a 2.69 ERA for AA Birmingham and AAA Charlotte this year. He struck out 70 in 73 2-3 innings.

Tekotte, 25, was designated for assignment Friday. A third-round draft pick in 2008, he hit .163 (8 for 49) in 30 games for the Padres during the past two seasons. Tekotte batted .243 with two homers and nine RBIs in 89 games this year at AAA Tucson.

The trade was announced Wednesday.
