Jury selection begins in Bowie State roommate murder trial - DC Breaking Local News Weather Sports FOX 5 WTTG

Jury selection started Thursday in the trial of the Bowie State University student accused of killing her roommate in a fight over music.

Alexis Simpson allegedly stabbed Dominique Frazier in the neck with a pair of scissors in September of 2011. Simpson's lawyers say it was self defense. Prosecutors call it an act of aggression.

On the Bowie State campus, students have designated an area as a peace park, a reminder of their ongoing commitment to a safe environment on campus.

The administration has hosted a number of programs focusing on conflict resolution.
