WASHINGTON -
A court hearing is scheduled in Washington in a lawsuit over the mass arrests of demonstrators 10 years ago.
Among those scheduled to testify in federal court Thursday is Terry Ryan, the D.C. police department's general counsel.
The lawsuit concerns the arrests and detention of hundreds of protesters outside the 2002 meeting of the International Monetary Fund/World Bank.
Lawyers for several former George Washington University students who were among those arrested have accused police officials of trying to tamper with certain evidence related to the arrests.
U.S. Magistrate Judge John Facciola, who is serving as a special master in the case, has said it may be necessary to hear from Police Chief Cathy Lanier about a directive on who should be tasked with investigating the allegations of evidence tampering.
