As New Jerseyans continue to recover from superstorm Sandy and some from a Nor'easter as well, New Jersey Transit if offering emergency shuttle bus service to ferries.
Commuters can park their cars for free at the Meadowlands or Ramsey/Rt. 17 Station and take a free shuttle to Weehawken/Port Imperial before hopping aboard a free ferry to Manhattan.
Shuttles at The PNC Arts Center are dropping off commuters at various bus stations including Port Authority and Newark Penn Station.
Shuttles are also moving commuters from Liberty State Park to Statue Cruise Lines ferries to Battery Park
The service runs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. (1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Liberty State Park to Statue Cruise Lines Ferry) on weekdays for inbound commuters and again for the evening return to New Jersey between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Ferry service is also offered at no cost on the State Cruise Lines in Liberty State Park to Battery Park
The ferry drop-off in Manhattan is at Pier 79 at 39th Street only.
