Nor'easter Halts Sandy Recovery Efforts Along Jersey Shore

BRIGANTINE, N.J. -

For residents up and down the Jersey coast, Wednesday's storm is like going through Hurricane Sandy all over again.

The wintry mix from the nor'easter has put a sudden halt to recovery efforts for homeowners and business owners.

In Sea Isle City, rising waters at the Red White and Brew Coffee shop forced owners to delay their reopening even longer.

Just north of Avalon, flooding washed out Ocean Drive and the evening rush hour Wednesday looked more like a night in mid-winter.

Storm weary residents say they are begging for a break.

"It's devastating, there's no other word," Jordan Kleinman of Atlantic City told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell.

In Brigantine, Sara Flickinger was supposed to spend the day digging through the stuff that was left from her home that was destroyed by Sandy. But instead, for the first time in her life, she spent the day picking out donated clothing from a local shelter.

Although the storm is moving out of the Jersey Shore, the number of power outages began to climb again.

Local utilities say the good news is they have the personnel already on standby and the impact is not nearly as big as it was this time next week.
