Newark Mayor Cory Booker campaigned long and hard for President Barack Obama. It was an effort that paid off, as Mr. Obama was re-elected to a second, four year term. Booker spoke with Good Day NY the morning after the big win.

"(People asked me) was the Sandy coming in that stalled Romney's momentum? I really don't believe that. People didn't realize this: all the metrics in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania was better than it was four years ago. The Obama ground game—which people didn't give enough attention to—was so incredible," said Booker.

Obama and Vice President Joe Biden defeated Republican Mitt Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., the vice presidential nominee.

Obama and Romney had been running neck and neck in national polls in recent weeks, but the president held small leads in polling in the so-called swing states.
