Some Sandy Evacuees Seek Refuge In Wildwood

Posted: Updated:
WILDWOOD, N.J. -

They came with nothing but the clothes on their backs when Hurricane Sandy forced them out of their homes and now some evacuees are seeking refuge in Wildwood.

The Fagan family of West Atlantic City has made their new home out of a tiny hotel room in Wildwood. The family of four tells FOX 29 reporter Shawnette Wilson that while it's not their normal home, they're happy to have a roof over their heads.

Concerned residents of Wildwood have opened their hearts and wallets to evacuees, not just to South Jersey residents but to North Jersey residents as well.

At the North Wildwood Fire Hall on 15th Street, organizers have been collecting donations of everything from food to clothing to ship to local hotels that will house more displaced people.

Evacuees will now have to focus their attention to the new storm set to arrive in the area Wednesday morning.

You can watch Shawnette Wilson's report in the video above.
