Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Pa., NJ, Del. Counties

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for several counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and New Castle County, Delaware.

The National Weather Service advisory goes into effect at 6 a.m. Wednesday and remains in effect through Thursday.

FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams says the storm is expected to make its way into our area between Wednesday and Thursday.

The heaviest rain is expected east of I-95, with between 1-2 inches likely for the coast. The strongest winds are also expected to hit areas east of I-95.

Several areas may see snow accumulations between 1-2 inches north and west of Philadelphia. The National Weather Service says areas south and east could see less then 1 inch.

A high wind watch issued early Tuesday morning is in effect for several counties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware as a Nor'easter storm is expected to reach our area by the middle of the week.

The high wind watch goes into effect Wednesday morning through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, winds may range from 20-30 miles-per-hour with gusts up to 60 miles-per-hour.

The high wind watch comes after a costal flood watch was issued Monday for several areas in New Jersey and in Kent County, Delaware from Wednesday morning into Thursday morning.

Several areas are already preparing for the storm.

On Monday night, emergency management officials in Brick Township issued a mandatory evacuation order that goes into effect Tuesday at 6 p.m. (Click here for a full list of areas under the mandatory evacuation)

Other areas, such as Longport that were already hit by Sandy are also preparing.
