With power still out to residents of Long Beach and hundreds of thousands of other Long Island residents, medical assistance is of an up most need.

A triage center was established at 700 Magnolia Boulevard  by West Bay Drive in Long Beach to help anyone with medical emergencies.

The Long Island Power Authority says it is working with Long Beach city officials to develop a  plan to restore power there.

LIPA says more than 300,000 of its customers remain without power.

That's down from more than 1 million homes and businesses that lost power after Superstorm Sandy hit one week ago.

LIPA officials say they hope to restore power to 90 percent of the utility's customers on Long Island and the Rockaways by Wednesday.

LIPA says 11,000 workers are laboring around the clock to restore power to its customers.

The utility says that teams of LIPA and National Grid employees, fire marshals, police officers, electricians and plumbers are performing door-to-door inspections in the Rockaways to determine whether power can be restored.
