Forecasters Say Nor'easter Will Hit Region On Wednesday

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Just what New York and New Jersey need after the devastation of Superstorm Sandy – another storm.

The National Weather Service says an offshore storm could pack another punch for the coastline.

Forecasters predict gusts up to 55 miles per hour on Wednesday, saying it looks like a classic Nor'easter.

But you can breathe a little sigh of relief. Experts say this storm will not be nearly as strong as Sandy, although it could compound the damage left by that superstorm.

FOX 29's Sue Serio says that, since this storm is coming up from the south, we will see rain moving in from south to north. So it will hit the shore points first Wednesday afternoon, and we will have gusty wind of about maybe wind gusts up to 40 miles an hour at times.

Then, we will see frozen precipitation mixing in and mostly staying west of Philadelphia.

By nightfall, things could get a little tricky in Lancaster County, Berks County and up in the Poconos, where there could be frozen precipitation, probably a mix of snow and sleet.

The rain should end by Thursday, so it pretty much looks like a 24-hour event, and there will be warmer temperatures to look forward to after that.
