Sandy Leaves Tuckerton Family Homeless

Posted: Updated:
Tuckerton, NJ -

Superstorm Sandy slammed Tuckerton, New Jersey shredding and tossing around homes on Parker Street.

"Oh god this once was our home," said a surprised Marion Brower after being able to see her home for the first time Saturday since the mandatory evacuation was lifted.

The storm crushed their dream, retirement home. Now she and her husband.

"Everything we owned was in that house," said Marion. "Fifty years of our life, gone," exclaimed her husband.

Sandy's wicked winds were so fierce that the home that used to be on pilings across the street from the Browers was picked up and crashed into their home.

Sandy's fury wreaked an estimated 60 million dollars in damage on Tuckerton.

It sheared off portions of homes and annihilated others.

In all..280 homes in the Ocean County borough were severely damaged.

Another 32 are a total loss.

One of them is Charlie Denardo's.

Entry into the mangled mess of his recently remodeled home is now through a hole Sandy tore.

Outside you can see it's cracked in half. The kitchen is leaning into the lagoon.

"We're taking any bids, " Denardo joked after spray painting a "For Sale" on the home.

Fortunately no deaths or injuries reported.

The Browers just happy they were able to find a few pictures of their son and granddaughters.
