The son of WUSA-TV morning news anchor Andrea Roane is facing a gun charge.
Police were called to her home in Northwest D.C. to respond to a call about an assault.
Investigators say Roane's son, 29-year-old Andrew Skehan, has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon - a gun. Sources say he fired at a former girlfriend outside the home he shares with his parents.
Neighbor Andrew Goods say he heard a single shot. His thoughts are with his long-time neighbor.
"Unfortunately those things happen. As parents, we do the best we can, but those things happen," Goods says.
Police say they have no information on the woman who was transported to the hospital.
Neighbors say Skehan's car was taken away on a flatbed truck after police found weapons inside.
The search inside the home continued into Friday evening.
