It hasn't been around that long, but it's clear people are buying into a phenomenon called Spanx.
It's a company that makes what it calls "problem solving" undergarments that tuck and tighten just where you need it.
On Friday, the company opened its first retail store and they chose a spot right here in our area.
"We chose Tysons because we looked at the country and where we have a concentration of our customers and where there was a great spot in a mall and this is where it ended up being," says Sara Blakely. "And after we signed the lease, we found out it was the location of the very first Apple store, and we thought that was very good karma."
And Blakely has had quite a bit of good karma. Also, a good idea and hard work. She is the founder of Spanx - body shaping underwear.
"We are opening retail now because we have a such an enormous collection now and all these body shaping and body enhancing garments that we wanted to display in one location," explains Blakely.
This year, Blakely was named the world's youngest self-made billionaire by Forbes magazine.
"They can expect an environment that is warm and friendly and interactive," she says. "We have a transformation team that is ready to make you look fabulous, and you know a lot of women shop for Spanx based on the outfit they are wearing, based on their body shape, and we have so many different things that a transformation team can help a woman and a customer navigate."
She says the new store has something for everyone - including men.
"Their undershirt has been the same for hundreds of years," says Blakely. "No one has paid any attention to it, so we tapered it in a little bit at the waistline, added a little bit of lighter so it doesn't stretch out easy, and it makes guys go a beltloop tighter."
