DETROIT (WJBK) - The Kwame Kilpatrick & Co. corruption trial will remain on hiatus until at least Nov. 13.

Spokesman Rod Hansen confirms that Judge Nancy Edmunds is allowing Attorney Gerald Evelyn, co-defendant Bobby Ferguson's lawyer, to recover after falling ill earlier this week.

Hansen says Edmunds plans on following up with Evelyn's doctors periodically to check on his progress. If she feels he can return, Edmunds will call for the trial to resume at an earlier date.

Evelyn was rushed to a hospital Monday after asking for a break while questioning a witness. The trial started Sept. 21 and could stretch into the new year.

Ferguson, Kilpatrick, Kilpatrick's father, Bernard, and former Detroit boss Victor Mercado are charged with a racketeering conspiracy and other crimes. Kilpatrick quit the mayor's office in 2008 in a different scandal.
