WASHINGTON -
The shooting that marred Halloween festivities in Georgetown last year was all but forgotten this year as scores of people headed into the city to celebrate.
There was a huge police presence Wednesday night. Officers wanted to make themselves very visible to any potential troublemakers. They patrolled the area on horseback, on motorcycles and on foot.
By 11 p.m., the festivities had been lively and fun, with no major problems reported.
In the words of one officer, "We didn't have to do much tonight. The citizens policed themselves."
