DUMFRIES, Va. -

The wrath of Hurricane Sandy has left a Dumfries, Va. family homeless after a huge tree crashed into their house, splitting it in half.

Brian and Shea Kammerer and their two daughters, 18-month-old Jaxann and 5-year-old Jordan, were all home at the time. It happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The family had prepared for the hurricane by buying water and stocking up on canned food. What they didn't expect was for a giant tree to come tumbling down in the middle of their house.

Shea was sitting on the couch watching television when the tree fell inches from her.

They are living in a hotel now and say they are living life one day at a time. They say they may lose everything, but they still have each other.
