The weather may be chilly but that doesn't mean you have to stay indoors! To kick off our search for cool getaways, we decided to go to Lookout Mountain, home to the famous Rock City, not to mention some truly spectacular scenery.
Lookout Mountain is one of the most spectacular views you could ever see, and it's good enough to bring some Floridians north into cooler weather!
"I think this view is just fantastic," said Floridian Gwen McElroy.
"I think it would be fantastic under any circumstances but it's beautiful today," said Cile Pfahler of Florida.
For those in the Metro Atlanta area, it's a short drive to Georgia's Lookout Mountain. Rock City is on top, and it's a tourist attraction boasting the famous panoramic view from a spot called Lover's Leap.
"You can see seven states on a clear day," said Andrew Kean. Those states are Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia.
Lover's Leap comes from a Native American legend about two young lovers from different tribes, and if you've seen Romeo and Juliet, you kind of how it ends.
For those that visit Lookout Mountain, the view is something they won't forget.
"Folks continue to come, and they are just blown away. It's this beautiful, natural outdoor experience," said Kean.
The view is especially nice in the cooler fall, when the leaves are bursting with color. It's something even warm-weather fans say is picture-perfect.
Starting November 16th, Rock City will be lit up with LEDs for the annual Enchanted Garden of Lights. For more information, click here!
