A military drone, once mistaken for a UFO along DC highways back in June took flight Tuesday. The X-47Bdrone is the size of a fighter jet, and took off from the deck of an American aircraft carrier for the first time Tuesday in a test flight that could eventually open the way for the U.S. to launch unmanned aircraft from just about any place in the world.

WASHINGTON -
Almost everyone in Washington, D.C. has boarded up and hunkered down Monday afternoon as Hurricane Sandy began her assault of the Mid-Atlantic.
Almost everyone.
Soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), assigned to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, were still on-duty as wind and rain lashed the area.
One particular photo showing three guards standing in the downpour spread across the internet quickly Monday. While it was later learned that that image was not from Monday's storm - but rather from a storm several weeks ago - it wasn't hard to find images from guards standing strong during Hurricane Sandy.
The 3rd Infantry Regiment posted these pictures to their Facebook page showing the guards hard at work on Monday. Along with the pictures, they posted this message: 'The Sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier maintain their vigil even as Hurricane Sandy bears down on the Eastern Seaboard. The Old Guard has guarded the tomb every minute of every day since April 6, 1948. Today will be no exception.'
