Gov. Chris Christie had one simple message during a Sunday storm briefing: "don't act as if there's nothing going on here."

Christie gave a Sunday night briefing, hours before Hurricane Sandy was set to reach New Jersey's coast. The governor traveled around New Jersey earlier in the day.

Christie emphasized the importance for New Jersey residents to prepare before the storm reaches New Jersey.

FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams says the latest track shows New Jersey will take a direct hit from Sandy.

Emergency officials say they are expecting record flooding at Sandy Hook, possibly as much as 13 or 14 feet - numbers they haven't seen since the early 1900s.

Officials also warned of power outages and the length of time it may take utility crews to restore the power due to the strong winds expected.

Hundreds of New Jersey schools have already canceled classes Monday.

Gov. Christie says 350 of the state's more than 500 school districts have decided to close Monday. Christie says 247 school districts have decided to remain closed through Tuesday.
