Washington Nationals' Davey Johnson selected 2012 National League Manager of the Year

WASHINGTON -

The Washington Nationals' Davey Johnson has been selected 2012 National League Manager of the Year.

Johnson led the team to its first winning season since relocating to Washington, D.C. in 2005.

The Nationals also boasted the best record in the majors with 98 wins.

"To be recognized by my fellow comrades, a particularly accomplished bunch, makes this award especially meaningful. To put on the uniform every day and compete is an honor I never take for granted," Johnson told Sporting News magazine.

To the north, the Baltimore Orioles' Buck Showalter won American League Manager of the Year.
