Family Dog Stolen During Break In

Posted: Updated:

Philadelphia Police are looking for a crook who not only stole thousands of dollars worth birthday party supplies from a Tacony family's home. They also took the family's brand new puppy.

You'll have to forgive   Zacharia Campbell for not smiling on his 8th birthday.
To be honest--it hasn't been the happiest.

"My son is in tears. He's heartbroken we love that dog" said mother Rachel Schortye.

Miss Piggy, the 3 month old Jack Russell puppy was snatched right from her cage in the kitchen early Sunday morning.

Thieves broke to the home on the 4700 block of Princeton Avenue. Not only did they get the dog. They also made off with the 52 inch plasma screen TV right off the wall.  They also stole everything for Zacharia's birthday party down to the juice boxes , hamburger rolls and party favors for the kids.

"When he came in the door was wide open, the window was open the TV was gone" said Schortye.

"Who would do something like this. We were asleep. They walk in somebody's home that's just crazy" said step father Govani Ortiz.

Luckily friends and family chipped in last minute to make sure Zacharia still had a party. But the dog--who brother Alex helped deliver as a puppy--is gone. Leaving a couple kids devastated.

"When I'm in school. I can't wait to get home and see her...all I did was play with her" said Alex.

Thieves did leave behind a single finger print on the door and a Halloween mask. The family wants whoever did it caught but more importantly..

"Especially the dog..we just want the dog back" said Schortye.

This is the second break in to the family's home in 2 weeks. They think the same person may be responsible.
