Barry's Boot Camp

Posted: Updated:

Lauren Steinberg is just one of the 30 people who came for a good butt-kicking at the new Barry's Boot Camp in Tribeca.

"Pretty exhausted," Steinberg says. "I'm really really sore but I definitely have more energy than I've had, which is good."

Since 1998 Barry's Boot Camp has been sculpting the bodies of everyone from Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, and P. Diddy to the Kardashian sisters. With locations from coast to coast, Barry's is no ordinary gym. In fact, don't call it a gym at all.

"It's not really a gym. We're a unique fitness group fitness concept," says Joey Gonzalez, the COO of Barry's Boot Camp. "Anything you do here is going to take place in that studio right here."

You don't have to be a celebrity or rich to come take sweat-pouring classes at Barry's at the new high tech.

"We've been around 14 years and we really have gotten a lot of attention because of the celebrities," Gonzalez says. "But people don't come here because of the celebrities. It's the other way around, the celebrities come because it works."

If your goal is to burn a thousand calories in a class and you feel like you need a little push from certified, professional instructors, Barry's Boot Camp may be right for you.

"I think it's geared towards people who want it to be effective," Gonzalez says. "Barry's Boot Camp is so wonderful you show up and don't have to think about a thing."

Junior Bishop, 25, faces charges of assault, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
