HILLCREST HEIGHTS, Md. -
Prince George's County Police are investigating a shooting Monday afternoon at a home in Hillcrest Heights, Md. A teenager who lived in the home was killed.
The victim's great uncle, Richard Talley, says he was told there was a knock on the front door of the home on the 3400 block of 25th Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. He says when his great-nephew answered the door, an argument was heard and then a gunshot.
Talley says he is in shock.
"It's kind of hurting right now because he was my blood," he says.
A Prince George's County Police source says the victim ran back into the house, yelling to his grandmother that he had been shot.
He later died at the hospital.
Talley says the teen lived in the house with his grandmother, mother and aunt. He also says the victim's pregnant girlfriend was in the house when the shooting happened.
"She'll just have a child that won't know its father," Talley says.
Prince George's County Police aren't saying much about the victim, a possible suspect or what may have provoked the shooting. They are telling neighbors to be on alert.
"We have the officers and the investigators out here doing walk and talks to see if there was anything going on prior to the incident just to make sure that we have everything that we need to further the investigation," says Cpl. Maria McKinney.
Talley says his great nephew was a typical teenager and had some trouble, but he doesn't know who could have shot him.
