Kevin James enters the ring in Here Comes the Boom

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

In the new Kevin James movie, Here Comes the Boom, it's art imitating life to an extent. The story of a high school facing budget cuts and tough choices -- that's the realistic part.  But how a teacher goes about making money to save extra-curricular programs at the school, well that's the entertaining part.

Kevin James spoke with Good Day's Buck Lanford about his role in the movie.

James plays Scott Voss, a high school biology teacher and former college wrestler who takes matters into his own hands, or rather fists, moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter to raise money to help save the music program at the failing school.

The fight scenes are realistic, and the training and hard work reveals a thinner more muscular version of James, who says he went right back to eating after the movie.  And though he's never shot a film in Atlanta, he says he looks forward to working here one day.
