Traveling construction ministry helping build Snellville church

SNELLVILLE, Ga. -

A construction crew that travels the country building new churches is working to complete a new church in Snellville.

Tom LaSalle and Matt Guerra make up the Cornerstone Baptist Builders team, a ministry that has helped build dozens of churches over the last decade. The pair and their wives make it their ministry to travel and build places of worship from the ground up.

"The cost of building has gotten so outrageous in the last 15 or 20 years that it makes it almost impossible for a small church to grow," said LaSalle.

For the next six months, they'll be working at the site of Forrest Hills Mountain View Baptist Church in Snellville.

"Churches across the country support us on a monthly basis, so that we can afford to come out here and work here in Snellville without charging this church anything," said LaSalle.

Not only will they be working there, they'll be living in the church parking lot.

"Because of these men, we are able to build it for a dollar to every $3 dollars every other building would be built for," said Pastor Ray Warren of Forrest Hills at Mountain View.

The traveling construction ministry is laying the foundation for a building that church members hope will bring blessings to this community.

"What we do when we come out is we make it possible for the local church to achieve their dreams because they can now afford to do what they want to do," said LaSalle.

This team is in high demand. They have work scheduled at independent Baptist churches as far out as 2016.
