SANDWICH, Ma. -

Two golden retrievers lost and trapped in the woods for two weeks are back home safe, thanks to one of the dogs tracking down the other.

Baxter and Bailey were tied together with a double leash in front of their home in Sandwich, Massachusetts.

The pair got loose and ran away near the end of September.

Their owner, Penny Blackwell, put up flyers and begged for help on Facebook.

But after two weeks, there was still no sign of the dogs.

This week, while away on a business trip, Blackwell received a message from a local family that they had found Baxter.

When she got home, she took him back to the area where he'd been found.

Baxter pulled his owner down a path until finally they came upon Bailey, who had his leash wrapped around some bushes.

The dogs each lost about 8-10 pounds, but otherwise they are in good health.
