Decorated Lions take over streets of Metro Detroit

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Lions have taken over the streets of Metro Detroit in an effort to raise money for a good cause.

Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand says it's a fun opportunity to not only get your hands on some great art work but to also help raise money for some great charities on the way. The Detroit Lions Foundation has partnered with the Children's Charities Coalition for Lionstown 2012.

50 of these special lion statues have been decorated and distributed around Metro Detroit. They will then be auctioned off during a special event at Ford Field on Oct. 16. One of the decorated Lions has been on display at the team's practice facility in Allen Park and even some of the Detroit Lion players have said they plan to bid on the statue.

For more information about where the statues are located and how you can take part in the auction visit, www.liontown2012.com or call (248) 258-5511
